Big News for Area Small Businesses
The Forbes Enterprise Awards Hit Rockland County
By Christian Sese

Are you a small business owner who deserves to be recognized for outstanding achievements in your industry? Does the idea of being honored at a gala reception at New York City’s famed Lincoln Center, receiving a prestigious trophy, and having your company name published in Forbes magazine sound enticing? Then it’s time to enter the Forbes Enterprise Awards (FEAs).

Television USA, together with media powerhouse Forbes, Inc. and sponsor Verizon, have introduced the Forbes Enterprise Awards, a program for small businesses in the New York metropolitan (including Rockland, Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk, along with the five boroughs of Manhattan), Northern/Southern New Jersey, and Philadelphia regions.

Peter Price, President and CEO of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and Lewis Liebert, Vice President and General Manager of Television USA, both longstanding supporters of small businesses, are at the helm. According to Price, the FEAs address an important void in the commerce industry: “to demonstrate the most unique methods and new products and services with a nationally recognizable awards program.”

There are 25 categories for entry, which vary from automotive to real estate to healthcare, and much more. These areas are then split in half based on number of employees. Businesses with fewer than 10 in staff and those with more will compete within their own categories in their own regions.

Winners will be announced early next year and presented with a prominent Forbes Enterprise Awards trophy at Lincoln Center on February 5, 2007. Forbes magazine will also publish a nationally distributed special section honoring the winners.

Television USA has partnered with WCBS Radio, United Way, AIG, FedEx, and American Express to acknowledge small businesses. Entries can be submitted online or by mail and will be judged on a regional level. Judging will be based on several areas of business, including marketing, customer service, employee relations, community service, and new product/service offerings.

Winning a Forbes Enterprise Award will afford you the recognition you deserve, as well as the respect of your peers and competitors. You will gain invaluable visibility and credibility in the marketplace.

The application deadline is September 30, 2006 (NOW EXTENDED until October 14, 2006). To enter, visit www.forbesawards.com and download an entry form today. For more information, call 212.489.0200. RBD
