You can’t peer into a crystal ball and predict failure or success. However, in our last issue, we did take a peek into the future and painted a picture of what the future might be like in Rockland in 2007.
We have received a great number of compliments about that topic, and many of the others we have covered in the pages of Rockland Business Digest. One of the main reasons we are so fortunate to be able to deliver the business news of the county in so much depth is due to the participation in this magazine by our advertisers.
I want to personally thank every advertiser in the pages of this issue.
I would also like for you, the reader to consider using the services of these advertisers. Yes, it’s because of these advertisers that you are reading this page and others, but these are all fellow Rockland owners with services, goods, and expertise that we can all use.
Let’s keep our business in the county. At least consider using the service of local banks, CPAs, attorneys, printers, restaurants, utilities, insurance brokers, mortgages, engineers, investments, credit unions, colleges, etc.
Supporting the businesses that you find in these pages, would go a long way for these companies. They deserve it and you can show them that this magazine is read by a loyal and savvy selection of business people.
In this day and age of customization, I hope you know all the ways we deliver your business news. Yes, you are reading this magazine in its print form, but for others, the Internet is what works.
You can find this article and all our content, including past issues, on our website at www.rbdigest.com. In January we had over 35,000 hits thanks to you!
Some of you enjoy listening to articles and content. To that end, we have just introduced a radio show on WRCR Monday’s at 10:30 am (1300 am). So in your busy lives consider visiting our advertisers, while you read, surf, or listen to us.

Putting out this magazine has been an adventure like few others in my experience. I’ve art directed more than a few magazines in my day, but never have I had the opportunity to so directly reach out to people I know and work with.
This makes it particularly gratifying when we have the opportunity to work with our local non-profits. Any charitable work is to be lauded, but when it helps people in your own backyard, well, how much sweeter can it get?
Ken and I both try to do our bit and that’s one of the reasons we’re both so committed to including a spread every issue called Invest in Your Community. Each issue we focus on two or three worthy non-profit efforts and tell our readers how to join in and make a difference.
There are so many worthy endeavors that sometimes it’s hard to know which to choose, but criteria for “worthiness” is really quite simple. If an organization actively works toward making the lives of its fellow human beings better—and does so without the motive of financial profit—then it’s pretty much a no-brainer.
And, while no one organization is more deserving of support than another, there are several that are just so prominent in the communities we live and work in that they automatically become recipients of our energies.
Such an organization is the Hudson Valley chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Although based in Tarrytown, this Foundation acknowledges no boundaries and works its magic on both sides of the river up and down the state.
That’s why I’m proud to say that my good friend and partner in this publication, Ken Mahoney—along with his wife Trish—are being honored for their participation, with The Garden of Dreams Foundation, at the organization’s Annual Dinner Gala on April 27th.
Ken and Trish are tireless advocates for the foundation and do what they do without any regard for thanks or personal profit, so it’s particularly nice to see them publicly recognized for their efforts.
If you’d like to be a part of the event or contribute to its success, you can find contact info on page 35 in our Rockland Happenings section. And to all those people in our community who do what they can to make peoples’ lives just a little bit better, well, what can I say except, thank you and, as always, “bon appétit!”
